Charlestown school PTO
Co-Treasurer: Kirsten Fester
This will be my third year in the Charlestown Elementary School PTO. For the last 2 years I have served as the Stop & Shop A+ Rewards coordinator. This year I have also assumed the role of co-treasurer. I have three boys. Alex and Tyler are in the third grade and Derek just started at the Chariho Middle School. I really enjoy helping the community and I feel that the PTO is very important for the parents and children who attend the Chariho School District.
I also attended Charlestown Elementary School and Chariho High School. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Johnson & Wales University. Working with the PTO I have met some fantastic people who share the same enthusiasm for improving our students’ school experience.
Treasurer: Heidi Pirotte
I have been part of the PTO since 2016 and love having a part in helping out at our school. This year will be my third year with the PTO and my first year as Treasurer and I’m really looking forward to it! I’m a full-time office manager, and I have 2 children, both whom currently attend the school.
Secretary: Open Position
Vice President: Karen Bellnier
This year will be my 5th year involved with the Charlestown PTO and 3rd on the Board. My daughter, Nola is going into 4th grade and my son, Devin is starting 1st. I am currently the Director of Instructional Technology and Online Learning at CCRI.
I mostly attended meetings my first year and started a small group to look into doing something with the Nature Trail out back. That evolved into chairing the Outdoor Learning Space committee with plans to build spaces out back that support teachers in using the outdoors and nature as part of their classes. I also help manage the website. The PTO has been a great way to help shape the experiences of my kids and those of others as well as meet other folks in the area. I moved here about 13 years ago from Washington DC.
Correspondence Secretary: Jill Fontenault
I am the mom of two sweet and fun girls, Claire and Nora. Claire is a first grader this year and Nora is starting preschool. I left my career in the technology industry to stay home while my girls were young.
I started attending PTO meetings as a wide-eyed first time Kindergarten mom last year. Right away I found it was a great way to connect with other parents and staff and stay in touch with everything going on at the school. It is wonderful as a parent to see the thought and care that is taken in each meeting, as parents and teachers work together to make decisions that will best enhance the school experience for everyone. I am looking forward to stepping into the correspondence secretary role this year. Staying in touch and keeping open communication is important within our school community, so I anticipate enjoying writing the monthly newsletters and keeping our PTO website up to date!
President: Cassi Charette
I have been a member of the Charlestown School PTO since 2015; this will be my third year as PTO President. I am a full time mother to 3 rambunctious boys, who keep us pretty busy with school and sports. My oldest Bryce age 14 will be in 9th grade, Landon age 8 will be in 3rd grade and Gunnar is 3 years old.
In addition to that I am a 4th grade teacher here at Charlestown School. I am also a lead behavior therapist and also provide direct support to individuals with disabilities. I really have enjoyed being part of the PTO and am excited to continue as President this year. Being part of the PTO allows me to be connected to what is going on in the school and allows me to meet many parents with whom I have forged friendships. We do a lot throughout the year for the school, teachers and students and I am happy to be a part of it.
